Red for Ed Stories

"As a newer teacher, I was surprised about the level of camaraderie between teachers. We have become a family. We depend on each other, come together in mutual support, and, yes, gossip up a storm. My building rep was the first person to introduce herself to me after I was hired. She made me feel welcome and wanted. She has helped me to be the teacher and Building Rep that I am today. As teachers, we have the power to change students' lives. As representatives of the teachers' union, we have the power to change even more."

FWEA stands in support of our colleagues, students, and others who have participated in protests supporting racial equality and civil justice. Educational equity is racial equity, and calling out institutional practices that have perpetuated inequality is necessary to bring about the systemic changes needed to ensure equal rights and equality of opportunity for every American.
