2021 Legislative Priorities

LAT, FWEA, FWCS, and the Indiana PTA stand in opposition to these two bills and encourage you to ask your Senator to vote "No." Both bills pull funding and programing from our public schools. Sharing your voice really does make a difference on this!

  1. HB1001: Dictates how the state funds schools, which will include cutting funding to programs like Cosmetology and Culinary Arts (anything not STEM)

  2. HB1005: Expands voucher program to include higher-income families, 90% full funding (instead of partial funding) and spending accounts

ACTION ITEM: Both bills are currently in the State Senate. Write your senators and Education Commitee and tell them to vote NO on both bills.

FWEA stands in support of our colleagues, students, and others who have participated in protests supporting racial equality and civil justice. Educational equity is racial equity, and calling out institutional practices that have perpetuated inequality is necessary to bring about the systemic changes needed to ensure equal rights and equality of opportunity for every American.
